It was a very active weekend for county law enforcement as ice and snow accumulated in places up to five inches - and more in the northern county. Beginning early Friday, ice then snow mixed with ice plummeted the Gibson County and West Tennessee area the entire day and into the evening. Schools remained closed Monday as secondary roads remained hazardous, said Sheriff Chuck Arnold. “A very active period for us and the THP (Tennessee Highway Patrol).  We responded to 22 accidents Friday alone,” Arnold said.
